Match the animation library to your Sift file
The GeckoLib mod is required by the Mielon releases listed below. Match its Minecraft version and loader to the specific Sift file you are installing. GeckoLib is an animation library used by other mods; adding it alone does not provide Mielon’s dimension or its portal mechanics.
There is an additional reason to check the file carefully: on October 2, 2026, several of Mielon’s Modrinth release records associate GeckoLib with a different loader. The actual Sift package declares the required version range, while the GeckoLib release record identifies which game and loader its file supports.
Use an exact release row
The table follows four specific files checked on October 2, 2026. It is a file reference, not a promise that the same requirements apply to every future release. The Fabric rows use fabric.mod.json; the NeoForge and Forge rows use their packaged mod metadata.
| Mielon release and record | Minecraft / loader requirement | GeckoLib requirement | Other declared requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.1.2 Fabric 26.3 — QK8RaspH | Minecraft 26.3 branch; Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or later | 5.5.6 or later, with a Fabric 26.3 file | Java 25 or later; Fabric API 0.160.5+26.3 or later |
| 1.1.2 Fabric 26.2 — FjiiWlMl | Minecraft 26.2 branch; Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or later | 5.5.3 or later, with a Fabric 26.2 file | Java 25 or later; Fabric API required, with no minimum in this package’s declaration |
| 1.1.2 NeoForge 1.21.1 — XH0t8Qsq | Minecraft 1.21.1; NeoForge at least 21.1.62 and below 21.2 | At least 4.6.6 and below 5, with a NeoForge 1.21.1 file | Java 21 branch setup; Fabric API is not declared |
| 1.1.1 Forge 1.20.1 — 5Q29ntDl | Minecraft at least 1.20.1 and below 1.20.2; Forge at least 47.2.0 and below 48 | At least 4.4.9 and below 5, with a Forge 1.20.1 file | Java 17 branch setup; Fabric API is not declared |
The two Fabric files also recommend LambDynamicLights: at least 4.13.0 for 26.3 and 4.12.2 for 26.2. Their packages list it separately from required dependencies. Keep that distinction when choosing the minimum set of mods to install.
For Forge and NeoForge, the metadata’s loaderVersion refers to the mod-loading language, not a Java version. Do not read [47,) or [4,) as a Java requirement. The branch-specific NeoForge 1.21.1 documentation identifies Java 21; the Forge 1.20.1 documentation identifies Java 17. These Java references come from the loader documentation, while the Fabric Java 25 requirement comes directly from each Sift package.
Avoid the mismatched dependency links
The Modrinth API resolves a release’s linked dependency by file ID. The records checked here contain these conflicts:
| Sift release record | Linked GeckoLib release | Conflict | Matching file to inspect |
|---|---|---|---|
| QK8RaspH, Fabric 26.3 | uGEFXLKA, GeckoLib 5.5.6 | The linked file is NeoForge 26.3 | GeckoLib 5.5.6 Fabric 26.3 — 1VWnZPbQ |
| FjiiWlMl, Fabric 26.2 | uGEFXLKA, GeckoLib 5.5.6 | The linked file is NeoForge 26.3 | GeckoLib 5.5.3 Fabric 26.2 — L6bn4TS8 |
| 5Q29ntDl, Forge 1.20.1 | maatiOOo, GeckoLib 4.4.9 | The linked file is NeoForge 1.20.1 | GeckoLib 4.4.9 Forge 1.20.1 — RBA7lJaW |
| XH0t8Qsq, NeoForge 1.21.1 | qj2pTqCr, GeckoLib 4.6.6 | Game and loader match | GeckoLib 4.6.6 NeoForge 1.21.1 — qj2pTqCr |
The linked files in the final column meet the named minimum and have the matching game/loader label. This is a metadata check; it does not claim a tested combination in every modpack. When a launcher offers automatic dependency installation, inspect the resolved file’s labels before accepting it.
There is also an optional-dependency conflict in FjiiWlMl: it links LambDynamicLights rylKnJ4M, labeled 26.3, although that Sift file is for 26.2. Choose a matching 26.2 file if you want that recommended library.
Check the four labels before launching
- Open your launcher profile and identify its Minecraft version and loader.
- Select the Mielon Sift file from the matching row. Keep the release record ID or complete filename with your setup notes.
- Open the GeckoLib file page and check Minecraft version, loader and library version. Compare all three with that row’s constraint.
- For Fabric, add a matching Fabric API file and satisfy the declared loader and Java requirements. Add recommended libraries only for the same game branch.
- Place the chosen mod files in the profile’s
modsfolder using your launcher’s installation flow, then launch that profile.
If you are setting up a dedicated server, use the same release branch and required compatible libraries. The Forge and NeoForge packages declare GeckoLib on both sides, and the Fabric files declare the mod for all environments. Do not treat the library as a cosmetic client-only addition.
Resolve a dependency message before attempting the portal
If the game reports a missing GeckoLib dependency, check that the library file is in the active profile’s mods folder and matches its game and loader. A downloaded file in another profile does not satisfy this profile’s requirement.
If the message names a version constraint, compare it with the exact row above. Installing a higher major version is not an automatic fix: the checked Forge and NeoForge packages require GeckoLib below version 5. If it names Fabric API, use the Fabric row’s declared requirement.
Keep the exact error text, Sift release ID, loader version and dependency filenames when reporting a problem to the author. Those details distinguish a missing library from the conflicting file association identified here. This page does not reproduce or attribute a crash without an actual error log.
Once the profile launches with the intended files, continue with the Mielon portal sequence or first-trip guide. For a different Sift project, use the compatibility checker and that project’s own author instructions.
Sources and verification date
The library’s role and player installation guidance follow the GeckoLib author page. Release record IDs, supported loaders and dependency associations were checked through Mielon’s release API and the linked individual release records on October 2, 2026. Requirements in the first table come from each named Sift package’s own metadata. Recheck those records when selecting a different release.
