Mielon's The Sift Beginner Guide

Beds work normally in Mielon's mod, coordinates match the Overworld at 1:1, and temporary Rifts last five minutes. For a first resource trip, bring an Echo Shard to bond an Echo Golem and collect its Soul Block deliveries.

First trip: enter, establish a return, then collect

In Mielon’s mod, beds work normally, coordinates match the Overworld at 1:1, and temporary Rifts can carry you between dimensions. Use those mechanics to establish your return plan before following the resource route below.

Understand the return window

The author describes Rifts that remain open for five minutes and create or reuse a matching exit. They transport players, mobs, vehicles, projectiles, and items. Natural Rifts can begin appearing after several minutes inside The Sift.

Our suggested first move is to identify the entrance you used and record its coordinates. A temporary Rift is useful transport, but its timer makes it a poor landmark for a long expedition. If using one, keep the return trip within that window rather than assuming it will remain open while you explore.

The 1:1 coordinate scale helps compare positions with the Overworld; it does not promise matching terrain or a permanent exit at every coordinate. Beds offer a familiar resting option because the author’s description explicitly says they function normally.

Follow the Soul Blocks route

Find a Soul Canyon

The 1.1.0 notes say an Echo Golem now always spawns near a Soul Canyon. Look for the landscape and creature together rather than searching for an unrelated crafting station.

Bring an Echo Shard

An Echo Golem collects Soul Blocks and carries them upward. Using an Echo Shard permanently bonds it to you, redirecting deliveries from the Singer to you. This makes a shard a purposeful preparation item for a resource-focused trip.

Choose how to use the supply

Soul Blocks connect to Singer interactions and Blub taming. The 1.1.0 update adds Singer bartering. Choose that progression route or a companion task before spending the supply; Blub explains the taming interaction.

Objective Relevant item or mechanic Practical use
Establish a rest point Beds function normally Plan a familiar resting stop
Gather Soul Blocks Echo Shard and Echo Golem Redirect the golem’s deliveries
Carry regeneration Ichor and a bottle Prepare a portable dose
Travel through a Rift Five-minute lifetime Keep track of the return window

Choose the next outing

For a first trip, our suggested stopping point is one understood resource connection and a completed return. After that, Siftite provides an equipment goal, while Ichor supports liquid collection and building.

If you have not entered yet, start with the portal song.
