The Sift Portal Song in Mielon's Mod

In Mielon’s mod, awaken the Ancient City’s Sonorous Deepslate with a Goat Horn, place and tune Note Blocks, then left-click the notes in order: 1 → 3 → 7 → 6 → 5 → 2 → 4 → 8.

Mielon’s The Sift: portal note practice

Rehearse the author’s sequence before playing it on the Note Blocks. This is for Mielon’s community mod, not an official Minecraft portal method. These controls check note order; they do not play audio or operate the game.

Play the portal song

In Mielon’s The Sift, the sequence is 1 → 3 → 7 → 6 → 5 → 2 → 4 → 8. Playing order matters; physical placement need not match it.

1. Wake the blocks

Use a Goat Horn at an Ancient City center. A Singer awakens the eight Sonorous Deepslate blocks in front of the Reinforced Deepslate frame.

2. Tune the Note Blocks

Place Note Blocks on the awakened blocks, using Sonorous Deepslate in Note mode. Right-click to tune; notes cycle from 1 through 8.

3. Play the melody

Left-click to play the sequence. The blocks then replay the melody, beams activate, and the portal starts opening.1

Keep tuning and playing separate

Our suggested practice: finish tuning before performing. Point to each block in your intended playing order without clicking, then make the attempt. This rehearsal helps separate finding the next block from choosing which control to use.

For memorization, divide the sequence into two groups: 1–3–7–6 / 5–2–4–8. The slash is a reading aid, not an instruction to pause in-game. Keep the complete sequence visible if remembering it distracts you from the controls.

Choose one viewing position for your rehearsal so “next” stays easy to follow. You can sketch the arrangement on paper and trace your intended path before touching a control. The sketch is a personal reminder, not a required portal layout.

What is the note order?

1 → 3 → 7 → 6 → 5 → 2 → 4 → 8.

Do I right-click or left-click?

Right-click tunes; left-click plays.

What does “Note Block Machine” mean here?

It is a search label for the portal setup. The author’s block names used in this guide are Note Block and Sonorous Deepslate.

Is this the same in vanilla Minecraft?
