Soul Canyons in Mielon's The Sift

Soul Canyons connect terrain to Soul Block collection in Mielon's mod. Echo Golems search the canyons and carry blocks to the surface; an Echo Shard bonds a golem so its deliveries go to you. The 1.1.0 notes add an Echo Golem near every Soul Canyon.

Visit for the Echo Golem resource route

Soul Canyons are the terrain feature tied to Echo Golems and Soul Blocks in Mielon’s The Sift. The author describes a solitary golem searching the canyons, collecting Soul Blocks and carrying them to the surface. An Echo Shard permanently bonds a golem to the player so its deliveries go to the player instead of a Singer.

That gives a canyon trip a specific purpose: find the resource relationship, then decide whether you want to observe the Singer delivery or change the recipient.

Check the 1.1.0 change

The 1.1.0 release notes say Soul Canyon generation was improved and its frequency increased. They also state that an Echo Golem now always spawns near a Soul Canyon. The older general description of golems as rare remains useful background, but this later note gives the relevant canyon-specific relationship for that release.

The notes do not supply a numerical canyon frequency or a best coordinate for locating one. Use your installed release and the named landscape as the search context; an old rarity description and a new generation rule should not be treated as identical instructions.

Stage Published relationship Useful next action
Soul Canyon Place where the golem searches for Soul Blocks Identify the canyon and nearby golem
Unbonded Echo Golem Carries its collection toward a Singer Observe this delivery if that is your goal
Echo Shard interaction Permanently bonds the golem to you Use the shard when player deliveries are your goal

Choose observation or collection

For a collection trip, prepare the Echo Shard before searching for the canyon. It changes the delivery relationship; a Soul Block is the later resource. This distinction avoids reaching the golem with the item intended for the next interaction but missing the item needed for the bond.

For an observation trip, leave the delivery relationship intact while watching where the golem carries the block. Mielon directs players to the mod’s advancements for mechanic explanations, so check the relevant advancement in your installed version while following the interaction.

Once you have a supply, choose a concrete use. Blub taming and Singer interactions use Soul Blocks. Version 1.1.0 adds Singer bartering, providing another reason to retain some supply rather than treating every delivered block as decoration.

Connect the canyon to a focused outing

Record the entrance landmark or position reference when you find a canyon, then finish the golem task before beginning an unrelated lake or forest search. Mielon’s coordinates correspond to the Overworld at 1:1, so a coordinate note is useful for revisiting your own route; it does not promise matching terrain across the dimensions.

Use Ichor Lakes for a liquid collection destination and Overgrown Forests for the forest ecology. Official Dungeons II’s Echo Den is a separate location, covered through the official area directory.
