The Sift update: content and current status

The Sift is live in Dungeons II, planned for vanilla Minecraft in 2027, and independently interpreted by community projects. Here is what those different update labels refer to.

Which update do you mean?

The phrase The Sift update can identify three different things: the official Dungeons II adventure, the announced future Java and Bedrock dimension, or a community mod’s release. Start with the product label before deciding which content or file changed.

The Dungeons II launch article confirms the official adventure is available. The Xbox announcement places the sandbox arrival in 2027. For the date-specific timeline, use release dates; this page focuses on content and release identity.

What the official realm adds

The Sift introduces a distinct dimension with unfamiliar terrain and inhabitants. The official preview identifies shifting tides that affect characters, hazardous blocks, and environments including Meadows and Carapace. The launch description connects exploration to the illagers’ activity in the realm.

Use the dimension overview for how it fits beside the familiar worlds, biomes for the environment, and mobs for a particular inhabitant. These observations belong to the official adventure; they do not publish final vanilla recipes or entry inputs.

Mielon’s community releases

The author describes Mielon’s The Sift as an interpretation rather than an exact Dungeons II recreation. Its Ancient City song, materials and exploration rules are project-specific.

The author’s Modrinth release records checked October 2 list:

Minecraft and loader Mod release Source file
1.21.1 NeoForge 1.1.2 XH0t8Qsq
26.3 Fabric 1.1.2 QK8RaspH
26.2 Fabric 1.1.2 FjiiWlMl
1.20.1 Forge 1.1.1 5Q29ntDl

The two listed 1.1.2 Fabric changelogs say bug fixes without identifying individual fixes. The NeoForge record does not give a changelog here. These are source-specific file records, so a different dated CurseForge snapshot on another guide is not silently treated as the same publication.

Decide whether a new file fits your setup

Compare your installed Minecraft version and loader with the selected release, then read its dependency relations. The GeckoLib guide documents conflicts in some published relations; do not install a library for another loader merely because the dependency link points to it.

For an existing world, preserve a copy before trying a changed mod environment. Treat launching the profile, joining the world and using the entrance as separate checks. A publisher’s “bug fixes” label does not establish that your complete mod collection has been tested.

For a new installation, use the project overview and installation guide. The vanilla update remains a separate official plan.
