How to get Pride of the Plains
Complete Wading Rainy Plains, then return to Puddle Pond and speak to the Inventor. He starts Recycling Your Monstrosity, a side quest about an illager convoy carrying copper scavenged from the Supreme Evoker’s Monstrosity.
- Find the Inventor in Puddle Pond. The achievement walkthrough locates the quest giver on a hill beside a looking glass. Activate the side quest before following the convoy.
- Pursue the illagers through Rainy Plains. Follow the quest markers. The Red Tower fast-travel point can shorten the outward trip.
- Defeat the guards and search three copper barrels. The route includes decoy barrels, so keep following the objectives after an empty search. Clear the enemies at the third section to recover the copper.
- Bring the copper back to the Inventor. Returning the material completes the quest and awards Pride of the Plains. The same completion unlocks Scrapping Over Scraps.
Finding a barrel is an intermediate objective. Finish the return trip and hand over the copper to collect the reward. Use the quest directory to find the prerequisite and compare other side quests.
Use the sword’s combo and Duelist bonus
Swing at nearby enemies, then keep attacking as each swing comes off cooldown. Consecutive swings form a combo, and the final attack deals increased damage. Finish the sequence to reach that stronger hit.
Fixed Duelist gives Pride of the Plains 40% more melee damage to primary targets. When a swing catches several enemies, the bonus follows its primary target.
For a close-range fight, keep the target within reach long enough to complete the combo, while leaving room to dodge. If an encounter keeps interrupting the sequence, compare how often you reach the last attack before choosing between this sword and another weapon.
Fixed Duelist and random rerolls
A Blacksmith rerolls Pride of the Plains’ random effect while keeping its fixed Duelist 40% primary-target bonus. The random pool also contains Duelist I–III, at 20% / 25% / 30%. Those tiers belong to the random-effect slot; the fixed unique effect stays attached.
The Echo Shards guide covers reroll spending. Use the enchantment-book guide for the separate library-enchantment system.
All 13 compatible effects
The Pride of the Plains item record lists these thirteen effects for found or Blacksmith-rerolled copies. I, II and III are the recorded random-effect tiers.
| Effect | Condition or benefit | I | II | III |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bounty Hunter | More damage to wounded enemies | 20% | 25% | 30% |
| Critical Edge | More damage from all critical hits | 10% | 20% | 30% |
| Critical Hit | Increased critical-hit chance | 5% | 10% | 15% |
| Duelist | More melee damage to primary targets | 20% | 25% | 30% |
| Finesse | More attack damage when jumping or rolling | 15% | 25% | 35% |
| Knockback | More knockback from attacks | 15% | 20% | 30% |
| Looter | Chance of additional loot drops | 20% | 40% | 60% |
| Persistence | Damage increase based on the stated percentage of your own total missing health | 10% | 15% | 20% |
| Precision | Increased critical-hit chance with melee attacks | 10% | 15% | 20% |
| Raider | Chance of higher-rarity loot drops | 1% | 2% | 3% |
| Sharpness | More melee attack damage | 10% | 20% | 30% |
| Strength | More damage from melee critical hits | 15% | 20% | 25% |
| Vanguard | More damage to enemies at full health | 20% | 35% | 50% |
Compare the trigger as well as the percentage. Vanguard works on full-health enemies, while Bounty Hunter works after an enemy is wounded. Sharpness applies to melee damage without either health condition. Persistence changes with your own missing health.
For criticals, Critical Hit and Precision affect chance; Critical Edge and Strength affect damage, with Precision and Strength specifically naming melee attacks. For loot, Looter offers extra drops and Raider offers a chance of higher rarity. Pick the benefit you want from the next run, then compare the actual roll on your sword.
