How to enchant in Minecraft Dungeons 2
Collect an enchantment book, visit an Enchantsmith, choose the gear and effect, and pay the displayed resources to apply it. Books add effects to a personal library, giving you control over the enchantment you put on an item instead of relying entirely on a loot roll.
An enchantment, a random built-in effect, and the item’s power are separate properties. The Enchantsmith handles enchantments; the Blacksmith handles power upgrades and built-in effect rerolls.
Complete Training with the Enchantsmith
This main quest follows The Silence in Little Howl in Howling Woods. MetaBot’s game-data record for build 1.1.1.0 gives the following sequence. Track the quest so that its current marker leads you to each search area.
- Find and interact with the Healing Smite book, then find and collect Piercing. Defeat the five illagers in the next objective.
- Search for Ancient Alchemy, enter the wishing well, and investigate the empty lectern. Clear the illager ambush there; the empty lectern means this book still needs recovering.
- Return to the Enchantsmith and hand over the recovered books, then travel to Brave Haven.
- Find the Enchantsmith’s stall and speak to them for the dungeon objective. TechnoSports places this entrance east of Brave Haven; use the active marker to locate it and enter.
- Inside, find and collect Ancient Alchemy, survive the ambush, and leave the dungeon.
- Return to the Enchantsmith and speak to them to finish the quest and open the enchanting service.
The recorded first-completion books are Healing Smite, Piercing, and Ancient Alchemy. Finding the first two or reaching the empty lectern leaves later objectives unfinished.
Apply a library effect
After obtaining a book, bring the effect and the piece of gear to the Enchantsmith. Open the menu, choose the eligible item and the available enchantment, then inspect the preview and cost before confirming.
The publisher describes a library that can be used to apply an effect on a gear slot of your choice. The current Wiki adds that each enchantable item holds one enchantment. Check the eligible options shown for the item: choosing a slot does not mean every named effect works on every item category.
Upgrade through tiers I, II, and III
Applied enchantments can reach level III. Upgrade the Enchantsmith when the merchant offers that option, then select the enchanted item to raise its effect tier.
The point price depends on item rarity. MetaBot’s build 1.1.1.0 guide calculates these cumulative point totals from the game cost table:
| Item rarity | Level I | Level II total | Level III total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 1 | 3 | 6 |
| Rare | 1 | 4 | 9 |
| Special | 2 | 6 | 12 |
| Unique | 3 | 8 | 15 |
The reported base Echo Shard cost is 1. The older Enchantsmith Wiki revision 3792961 lists point operations of 3, 5, and 7, which match the Unique row’s successive costs rather than a universal price for all rarities. Read the selected item’s preview and current transaction price before confirming an upgrade.
The Worked Like a Charm achievement requires an enchantment upgraded to level three. Applying a level-one effect is an earlier step, rather than completion of that achievement.
Examples of the effects you can collect
The current Enchantment record lists these names:
| Area of use | Named examples |
|---|---|
| Elemental melee attacks | Fire Aspect, Frost Crescent, Lightning Surge, Poison Fog, Soul Blast |
| Ranged projectiles | Piercing, Critical Quiver, Tumbleshot |
| Movement and area effects | Somersault, Springload, Crash Landing, Ender Mines, Gravity Pulse |
| Health, potions, and artifacts | Healing Smite, Ancient Alchemy, Barrier Brew, Bottomless Brew, Buddy Brew, Health Synergy, Artifact Amplifier |
| Other named effects | Cow Stampede, Dynamo, Shadowcloak, Swirling, Thundering |
The publisher’s hands-on example describes Healing Smite as a chance to produce a healing circle after defeating an enemy, Ender Mines as deploying exploding crystals, and Somersault as adding dodge rolls. The list identifies available effects without inventing a full location table for every book.
Find books while progressing
The publisher identifies rifts and dungeons as sources of loot that can include enchantment books. Their layouts and reward opportunities make them useful repeat adventures when you want to expand the library.
Choose an effect to solve a concrete problem: a more useful recovery option, an additional movement tool, or an attack that suits your weapon. Then check whether you have the required book, Echo Shards, and points.
For a complete combination, compare the Sift builds and their tested conditions, including the tradeoff between artifact uptime and potion-fuelled soul recovery. For the item you want to improve, use weapons and talismans. For the wider campaign, return to the Dungeons II overview or the quest directory.
