What Echo Shards do

Echo Shards are a Dungeons II resource used for upgrades and gear customization. Their recorded sources include defeated soul-corrupted mobs and bosses. The publisher also identifies them among the rewards available through rifts and dungeons.

The item name is shared with vanilla Minecraft, but these uses belong to Dungeons II’s merchants and equipment. They do not supply a vanilla portal recipe or a recovery-compass crafting step.

Choose the service before spending

Your goal Service Echo Shard use recorded in the sources
Improve a merchant Merchant Merchant upgrade
Apply a library enchantment Enchantsmith Enchantment application
Raise an applied enchantment’s tier Enchantsmith Enchantment upgrade
Change an item’s random built-in effect Blacksmith Effect reroll

Equipment power and a random effect are different properties. The Weapon Wiki record describes Blacksmith power upgrades as costing Emeralds, while effect rerolls use Echo Shards. Inspect the service and displayed price before assuming one currency covers every improvement.

Find more shards during ordinary progress

Fight the soul-corrupted enemies and bosses encountered along your available routes. Use rifts, dungeons, and unlocked rematches as repeatable encounters when you also want gear or enchantment books.

The publisher’s example of the Howling Woods Witch shows a Boss Totem reactivating the encounter. That gives a supported repeat-fight workflow; it does not establish that a particular shard count is guaranteed on every boss attempt. See Boss Totems for how the rematch works.

When farming, decide which improvement you are saving for. Repeated rerolls are a different spending plan from applying a known library effect. A reroll changes an eligible random property and should not be treated as guaranteed delivery of the one property you want.

Check the selected item’s enchanting cost

Enchanting uses Echo Shards and Enchantment Points. The point price changes with item rarity and enchantment tier. MetaBot’s build 1.1.1.0 cost table reports a base cost of one Echo Shard; check the current menu for the transaction you have selected.

The older Wiki record’s 3/5/7 point operations match the Unique-item upgrade increments. They are not a flat cost for Common, Rare, and Special gear.

For the complete apply-and-upgrade procedure, use enchantment books. For the item you intend to improve, read weapons or talismans.

Check the resource you are actually missing

If a service is unavailable, compare the required resource with the amount shown in the menu. An enchantment may require both shards and points; a power upgrade may instead ask for Emeralds. Finding more of the wrong currency will not resolve the missing requirement.
