Is Siftite armor real?
Yes: you can make Siftite armor in Mielon’s The Sift, a community mod for Minecraft Java Edition. Its helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots are upgrades of the matching Netherite pieces. Install the mod in a compatible Java profile to use the recipes here; a video of the set does not add those recipes to an ordinary vanilla world.
The armor’s main benefits are more knockback resistance and recovery after death. Defense and toughness stay at Netherite levels. If you searched for Siftite armour, this is the same four-piece equipment set. For the broader Siftite material and tool guide, follow the ore, ingot and mining sections there.
The recipe and repair instructions below use Mielon 1.1.2, Fabric, Minecraft 26.2, file FjiiWlMl. The Mielon project hub lists the separate game-version and loader files.
How to make Siftite armor
Make each piece at a Smithing Table with a Siftite Upgrade Smithing Template, the corresponding Netherite armor piece, and one Siftite Ingot. The template goes in the first slot, Netherite in the base slot, and the ingot in the addition slot.
| Armor you want | Netherite base | Addition | Template |
|---|---|---|---|
| Siftite Helmet | Netherite Helmet | 1 Siftite Ingot | 1 Siftite Upgrade Smithing Template |
| Siftite Chestplate | Netherite Chestplate | 1 Siftite Ingot | 1 Siftite Upgrade Smithing Template |
| Siftite Leggings | Netherite Leggings | 1 Siftite Ingot | 1 Siftite Upgrade Smithing Template |
| Siftite Boots | Netherite Boots | 1 Siftite Ingot | 1 Siftite Upgrade Smithing Template |
The output follows the base item: boots produce boots, while a chestplate produces a chestplate. Diamond armor is not the base for these four recipes. Finish its Netherite upgrade first, then use that piece for the Siftite step.
Check the named result before taking it. If the result slot is empty, compare all three inputs with the table. A Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template belongs to the preceding upgrade; an armor-trim template belongs to a different operation. Neither substitutes for the Siftite template.
You can upgrade one piece at a time. There is no need to gather a complete set before making your first helmet or chestplate. If one slot already contains valuable equipment, start with another piece and keep the rest of your existing kit equipped while gathering the remaining materials.
Full-set materials and template budget
For a complete Siftite armor set, bring four Netherite armor pieces, four Siftite Ingots and four Siftite Upgrade Smithing Templates. The ingot recipe takes nine nuggets, so the four armor upgrades use 36 Siftite Nuggets if you craft all the ingots from nuggets. This is the Siftite-stage bill; making the Netherite bases has its own cost.
| Planned upgrades | Matching Netherite pieces | Siftite Ingots | Nugget equivalent | Templates consumed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One piece | 1 | 1 | 9 | 1 |
| Two pieces | 2 | 2 | 18 | 2 |
| Full set | Helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots | 4 | 36 | 4 |
Turn one template into four
The duplication recipe uses one existing Siftite template, seven diamonds and one Siftslate block, producing two templates. Each craft therefore increases your supply by one. Starting with one template, three duplication crafts take you through 1 → 2 → 3 → 4, costing 21 diamonds and three Siftslate blocks.
Arrange the Crafting Table with the existing template at top center, Siftslate at the center, and diamonds in the other seven slots. Repeat the operation before spending the templates at the Smithing Table. Using your only template for an armor upgrade leaves nothing to duplicate.
Want a spare for later tools or replacement armor? Duplicate a fourth time: 28 diamonds and four Siftslate blocks take the starting template to five. Spend four on the set and keep one. Extra templates found in loot reduce the number of duplication crafts you need.
For your first template, search Abandoned Portals in The Sift; Mielon lists a 40% loot chance. For the ingots, use the Siftite ore and nugget route. A missing template calls for a structure trip, while missing nuggets call for resource collection.
Siftite armor vs Netherite
Siftite armor keeps Netherite’s defense and toughness while improving knockback resistance. Mielon also gives Siftite equipment fire resistance and Mini Rift recovery. Those features solve different problems: staying in place during a hit, protecting the item, and getting your equipment back after death.
| Property | What the Siftite upgrade changes |
|---|---|
| Defense | Retains Netherite-level defense |
| Toughness | Retains Netherite-level toughness |
| Knockback resistance | Increased compared with Netherite |
| Durability | The inspected armor material uses Netherite’s durability base plus 4 |
| Fire resistance | The armor items are fire resistant |
| Death recovery | Eligible Siftite items return through a Mini Rift |
The durability change is a material-base increase, not four extra uses on every piece. Each armor type uses that base when setting its durability. The author’s 20% faster claim applies to Siftite tools; it does not mean wearing the armor makes you run faster.
Likewise, a fire-resistant item does not grant its wearer fire immunity. Plan lava crossings around the protection you actually have. If your goal is a larger base-defense tier, this upgrade retains Netherite protection; its extra knockback resistance and recovery are the reasons to choose it.
Repairing Siftite armor
In the inspected file, Siftite Ingot is the armor repair material. Keep repair ingots separate from the four used to make the set. Spending your last ingot on the final upgrade can leave you needing another resource trip when a piece wears down.
For an anvil repair, bring the damaged piece and its Siftite repair material, then check the resulting item and displayed cost before taking the output. The four-ingot full-set budget above covers crafting the upgrades, not later repairs or their XP costs.
If you are changing mod versions, check the installed recipe and item information before using a treasured enchanted piece. The linked release pins the recipe and repair material; it does not supply a universal anvil cost for every item history.
Recover armor after death
After respawning, a Mini Rift appears beside you and returns lost Siftite equipment. When your inventory is full, the remaining items orbit you until you free space. Clear enough slots to collect the returned gear, then put the recovered armor back into its equipment slots.
One piece can qualify; wearing the whole set is not required. The inspected recovery code checks tagged Siftite items across the player’s inventory, rather than counting equipped armor pieces. All four armor items are in that tag, so an eligible piece carried in your inventory is included too.
With keepInventory enabled, the file skips its death-capture routine because the inventory-retention rule is already active. The ordinary Mini Rift return described here follows death with that rule off. Food, unrelated equipment and other supplies still need their usual recovery plan: Siftite recovery does not turn the entire inventory into Siftite items.
Watch the armor upgrade
SirColor’s Mielon’s The Sift showcase reaches Siftite upgrades and equipment at 6:51. Use it to see the equipment alongside the recipe table above. The video lists Minecraft 1.21.1 / 26.3; this page’s package-checked recipes use 1.1.2 Fabric 26.2.
Siftite armor FAQ
Is Siftite armor better than Netherite?
It adds knockback resistance, increased armor durability and recovery after death, while keeping Netherite-level defense and toughness. Choose it for those benefits rather than expecting a higher base-defense tier.
What does Siftite armor do after you die?
A Mini Rift returns eligible Siftite items after respawn. With a full inventory, remaining items orbit you until space becomes available. This includes the helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots.
How many Siftite Ingots does a full set need?
Four: one for each Netherite armor upgrade. That is 36 nuggets at nine nuggets per ingot, plus four matching Netherite pieces and four upgrade templates.
Do you need a full set for Mini Rift recovery?
No. The inspected 1.1.2 Fabric 26.2 recovery code checks each tagged item, including individual Siftite armor pieces. It has no full-set requirement.
