What is the new dimension in Minecraft?

The Sift is the new dimension introduced in Minecraft Dungeons II. Its unusual creatures, shifting tides and unfamiliar terrain give it a different identity from the Overworld, Nether and End. The official launch article describes an adventure through this realm while illagers seek to exploit it.

A dimension is the wider world you enter; a biome is an environment within it. Meadows and Carapace are areas of The Sift, rather than two additional dimensions. Start with Singer’s Meadow or Carapace when you want to identify a particular landscape.

The Xbox Wire announcement separates the Dungeons II debut from the later sandbox arrival. A video of The Sift does not, by itself, identify an installable Java or Bedrock update. Check the game title and, for a mod, the author and file before following its instructions.

Where does it fit beside the existing dimensions?

The Overworld, Nether and End provide the familiar context. The Sift adds a new realm to that lineup, but its Dungeons II release does not instantly add another destination to an unmodified survival world. The same distinction applies to the phrase Minecraft’s fourth dimension: it describes the announcement’s place in the familiar lineup, rather than proving your current world has an active fourth portal.

For a community interpretation, Mielon’s The Sift uses an Ancient City entrance and its own exploration rules. The Aether is a separate sky dimension project with another entrance. Choose the project first; matching a screenshot’s color is insufficient to choose an activation method.

Use the portal directory to identify an entrance, the mob directory to identify a creature, or the biome directory for a location. For changes and product status, read The Sift update. These guides keep the official adventure and author-made versions distinct.

Common questions

Is The Sift just another Deep Dark biome?

No. The announcement identifies it as a dimension. The Deep Dark is an Overworld biome associated with Ancient Cities; confusing an entrance area with the destination leads to the wrong guide.

Can I activate its vanilla portal now?

The official announcement does not publish a Java or Bedrock activation method. Use the activation chooser to select instructions for your actual game or mod.

Does a mod show the final vanilla mechanics?

A mod author’s implementation establishes that project’s behavior. It does not establish the forthcoming Java or Bedrock design.
