Find the author’s project
The Aether, by The Aether Team, is a Java mod built around floating islands, new materials, creatures and dungeon progression. The author’s Modrinth page is the starting point for identifying the project and choosing a release.
Use the author and file details when a search simply says “Aether.” The project page aggregates multiple Minecraft versions and loaders from its release history. Those tags do not establish that every loader supports every game version. Open the file that matches your profile and read its requirements.
Which portal belongs to The Aether?
The author’s getting-started instructions use a Glowstone frame, activated by placing water with a bucket inside it. That recognizable entrance helps distinguish an Aether demonstration from an Ancient City Sift demonstration.
If your video shows a reinforced Ancient City frame, a Singer, or eight musical bases, compare Mielon’s portal guide instead. Follow the project’s own guide once the identity is clear.
The Aether and The Sift compared
| Question | The Aether | The Sift |
|---|---|---|
| Which project or product? | Community Java mod by The Aether Team | Official Dungeons II realm, planned vanilla realm, and separate community interpretations |
| Visual setting | Floating sky islands | Product-specific Sift environments |
| Entrance documented here | Glowstone and water, from the author | Mielon’s Ancient City song applies to Mielon’s mod |
| Where to choose files? | The Aether author release list | Sift project directory |
The Sift announcement does not turn an Aether installation into an official fourth-dimension update. The useful comparison is which world and mechanics you intend to play, followed by the exact project required to reach them.
Choose a file after choosing the world
For The Aether, select the Minecraft version and loader on the author’s release page. Keep any listed dependencies with that file. For a Sift project, start with its author record and use the compatibility checker as a dated file-selection aid.
These are separate installation decisions. This page identifies the Aether project and entrance so you can continue to its documentation without copying a Sift song into the wrong world.
