A creature from Mielon’s mod

Dark Sniffer is Mielon’s hostile Sniffer transformation. The author description supplies the infection and attack mechanics below. Identify the installed project before applying them to a world.

Follow the infection rather than the creature’s position

The transformation begins with a specific action: a Sniffer digs into Sculk. The author’s description then gives a 30-second interval before the infected creature becomes a Dark Sniffer. When following the sequence, identify the digging action first and the changed creature afterward. A Sniffer walking over or standing near the material is not the documented trigger.

That distinction helps when an expected transformation does not happen. Recheck what the Sniffer actually did and which block it dug into. The condition is more specific than simply bringing the animal to The Sift, and the author describes infection as something that can happen rather than a guarantee for every nearby Sniffer.

Connect the hostile creature to Sculkflower Seeds

Sculkflower Seeds give Dark Sniffer an exploration role beyond its attack. The author describes it digging them up; this is a behavior-based source of the seeds, rather than a stated reward for killing the creature. If seeds are your goal, watch the digging interaction and keep the hostile Sonic Sniff in mind while doing so.

Sculkflower also appears in the mod’s plant list. The 1.1.0 release notes separately add planting seeds on Healthy Sculk. Use the blocks and items guide to continue from identifying the seed-producing creature to choosing the relevant material or plant task.

Read the pull and the Warden’s reaction

Sonic Sniff draws a distant target toward Dark Sniffer. Watch which creature causes the change in distance before attributing the movement to your own approach or to the terrain. This is the creature’s distinctive hostile action in the author’s description.

The Warden interaction belongs to a different relationship. Wardens leave Dark Sniffers alone, and a fully calm Warden can occasionally approach and pet one. That calm interaction does not change the Dark Sniffer’s hostile role toward players.

For an ordinary passive Sniffer, follow a guide for that creature’s normal behavior. For this transformation, keep the three steps connected: digging into Sculk, the infection interval, and the hostile creature with pulling and seed-digging behavior. All of those interactions here belong to Mielon’s The Sift.
