How long to beat Minecraft Dungeons 2?
GamesRadar’s Justin Towell reports about 12 hours to finish the story on Xbox Series X. His review method identifies a publisher-provided copy, with four hours in co-op and the remaining time solo. He then spent additional days playing endgame content. GamesRadar’s original review and method.
Use this individual record as a planning reference, with room for your own exploration and pace.
Story completion and exploration are different goals
GamesRadar’s main text also describes the campaign as approximately 10 hours. We retain the explicit review-method figure of about 12 hours, with its stated solo/co-op split. Both numbers come from the same author and session; they are not two independent samples or the endpoints of a measured completion-time range.
For planning, decide whether your goal is the next story objective, a side quest or equipment improvement. Towell’s separate endgame play is a useful reminder to leave post-story activities outside a story-only schedule. The review guide puts that experience alongside the game’s official features.
When does The Sift appear?
The early story rift is a brief introduction; full portal access comes later. The published Sift access walkthrough records a restricted first visit during the Illager High Council investigation, followed by a return to the Overworld. Seeing that introduction does not mean the Ancient City gateway is already restored.
Later, progress through the Deep Dark, defeat the Twisted Warden, and complete the missing Note Block recovery chain. MetaBot’s Returning the Note Blocks record, based on game-data build 1.1.1.0, ends with returning to the ancient portal, activating it and entering. Returning the Note Blocks objectives.
Use how to enter The Sift to match that chain to the objective currently displayed in your game.
What would count as 100%?
A full-completion time needs a defined checklist, such as all quests, achievements, locations or equipment. The review supplies no such timed checklist, no measured Sift-arrival hour, no timed comparison between difficulties and no complete game-build number. Its launch-story duration also excludes the future expansion packs described in editions and DLC. Those limits prevent converting this record into a verified 100%, all-DLC or difficulty-specific estimate.
Plan your Sift sessions
Choose one concrete stopping point before you start: complete the next quest objective, restore a travel route or reach the next station. Use the map guide to identify the named stations and entrance chain, then read your active quest before leaving the current area.
For a group, agree on party setup and hero mode in advance and leave time for everyone to compare gear between objectives. At the end of a session, note the active quest and nearest travel point so the next evening begins with a shared destination. Return to the Dungeons 2 hub for the wider adventure.
