Where you go after defeat
The publisher’s hands-on account describes defeated heroes returning to Brave Haven. The Teleport Statue there sends you back toward the nearest Respawn Shrine you previously passed, reducing the amount of terrain you have to cross again.
Respawn Shrines appear across the Overworld and The Sift, commonly beside dungeon entrances or Boss Totems. A shrine is part of the recovery route; a Minecart Station is a separate fast-travel destination.
Get back to the encounter
- On returning to Brave Haven, check your equipped items and current objective.
- Interact with the Teleport Statue.
- Take the return to the relevant previously passed shrine.
- Follow the quest marker from the shrine to the encounter.
- Read the attack or hazard that caused the defeat before committing to another attempt.
The fast-travel guide explains station travel if you want to choose a different discovered destination rather than return toward the shrine.
What “no penalty” means in the source
The Xbox author describes getting back into the fight with no penalty in their hands-on session. That supports the recovery experience reported there. The article does not enumerate a currency-loss formula, inventory-drop table, or party-wide revive timer, so this page does not assign those numbers.
For the practical question “do I have to walk all the way back?”, the answer is to use Brave Haven’s Teleport Statue and the passed shrine. If your game shows a separate prompt or cost, read that prompt for your version rather than borrowing a penalty rule from vanilla Minecraft or the first Dungeons game.
Make one change before retrying
Identify what ended the attempt. Against the Twisted Warden, for example, the beam leaves soul fire behind and the spin has a later recovery opening. Against the Sculk Monstrosity, a charge can lead into a burning arm swing.
An attack that appears finished may leave a hazard or a follow-up. Plan where to stand after the first motion, and keep your retreat path out of Ichor. During Endure Tide, also check remaining souls because passive soul regeneration is stopped.
If you want a different piece of gear, use a documented Boss Totem rematch or another available encounter after returning. If you want to progress the current story, resume its active objective. Return to the Dungeons II overview for the map and systems.
