Where the Twisted Warden is fought

The Twisted Warden guards the Deep Dark portal at the end of the Ancient City route. It is a Dungeons II boss, distinct from both the regular Warden fought earlier in the quest and the Warden rules in vanilla Minecraft.

The Down into the Deep Dark objective list has a Warden encounter, a deeper gate, the Twisted Warden battle, and then a check on the trapped Echo Golem. Defeating this boss is part of entering The Sift, while recovering the missing Note Blocks opens the later ancient-portal route.

Read the attack before choosing an opening

The following patterns come from Twisted Warden revision 3813982, checked October 2, 2026. The responses are advice derived from those documented motions, rather than a claimed playtest or a fixed-damage build.

Attack Recorded cue and effect What to account for
Close-range arm swings Wide arcs that damage and knock back heroes and mobs Space around the boss and the landing area after knockback
Sonic beam Bows down, maw fills with light, then fires a wide continuous beam Move out of the beam direction before repeated hits pin you
Fire eruption Draws souls in and fires them into the floor New soul-fire patches across the arena
Summons Mouth opens in a roar Excavators, Skeletons, and Flame Constructs joining the fight
Spin Rapid body spin with damage and knockback Stay clear until it stops and falls briefly

The beam leaves hazards behind

The sonic beam deals continuous damage and knockback. The Wiki describes tracking soul projectiles during the attack and a row of soul fire left along the beam’s path.

The practical implication is that escaping the initial beam does not make its path safe immediately. Check where you step afterwards and keep enough room to avoid the tracking projectiles. A wall behind you can turn knockback into repeated exposure, so notice your position before the beam begins.

The record says a Totem of Shielding can block the beam briefly, but the beam quickly breaks through the shield. Treat the shield as temporary protection rather than a source-supported way to ignore the whole attack.

The spin has a later recovery window

The current Wiki records the spin stopping after seven seconds, followed by the boss briefly falling down. That describes an opportunity after the attack, not permission to move into its path while it is still spinning.

Watch the stop and fall rather than relying solely on counting seconds. Animation and your position are the usable cues during an attempt, while the source timing is an observation from this revision.

Make the next attempt specific

If the beam caused your defeat, focus on its wind-up and where its lingering fire lands. If summons overwhelmed you, keep track of the added enemies before locking your attention on the boss. If the spin caught you, plan a clear retreat path and wait for the actual recovery.

Your build still matters, but this source does not establish a universal health value, damage threshold, phase transition, or guaranteed weapon solution. An unusually high damage result reported by one player is not used here as a general strategy.

After defeat, follow death and respawn to return from Brave Haven. After victory, check on the trapped golem and continue the Sift entrance quest. Return to the Dungeons II overview or boss directory for other encounters.
