Recognize the Lootkin
Look for a short, four-legged creature with a tall, forked antenna. The Lootkin render shows a pale, block-shaped body, dark patches beside a red face marking, and a blue-green antenna that branches into two upright ends. These visible features are useful when identifying a small creature in a busy Sift screenshot.
The Dungeons II Lootkin record places it in The Sift. This page concerns that Dungeons II creature; the Minecraft Looting enchantment is a separate subject.
The golden-chest sighting
The golden-chest screenshot shows a Lootkin sitting on a decorated chest. Use the antenna and face to match the screenshot to the render. The chest provides a distinctive landmark for matching the sighting.
Identify a Lootkin when the chest is out of view
The two linked images answer different questions. The isolated render makes the face markings and antenna easy to inspect; the chest screenshot shows their scale and position in a game scene. Compare the creature across both views before identifying an unfamiliar chest encounter. The render is especially useful if foliage or the chest itself hides the legs in the screenshot.
Distinguish other small Sift inhabitants
A Nuzzle has a larger pink, wool-like body and two striped horns. Its paired horns rise directly from the body, whereas Lootkin’s most conspicuous feature is the branching antenna. A Slabber has a low turtle-like shape with flowers on its back and a visible tongue. A Seedling has a broad jaw and belongs to the hostile melee Sifter family.
What to do at a chest sighting
If you are matching a clip or screenshot, keep the chest and creature in the same frame, then compare the antenna and facial markings with the gallery references. If you are playing and looking for a reward, use the interaction offered by the chest or your active objective. There is no documented Lootkin-specific step for opening that chest.
The mob directory can help identify another creature if the antenna and face do not match.
